Want to learn more? Here's my resume.
I'm a campaign embed reporter for NBC News covering 2020, from Iowa and on the road across the country. Previously, I produced for NBC's Business & Tech unit, after starting in breaking news covering the Northeast Region for NBC. Every day in the news world is different, but you can usually find me: in the field on a shoot, in an edit bay cutting my latest piece, finessing a script or my latest digital writeup, or avidly making calls to confirm a story or build new pitches.
I've traveled all over the country in the pursuit of good journalism - making stops at farms & manufacturing plants in the Midwest to discuss tariff impacts, events like CES and SXSW to reflect on the interference of technology in today's world, and various election headquarters as politics constantly intersects with business today. I balance our hard news coverage with fun features on workplace trends, small businesses, and social media. Check out my #newstourist escapades on Instagram: @maurabarrett.
In my spare time, I try to experience new countries & cultures as often as possible, play viola in a community orchestra, and train to run my latest half marathon.
